Ten-man Arsenal side held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final despite playing most part of the game with 10 men.

After Granit Xhaka was sent off for a wild challenge on Diogo Jota, Arsenal had to play more than 65 minutes with 10 men.

Arsenal held out for a crucial draw ahead of the return leg at the Emirates despite dominating possession and having the better of the chances until stoppage time for the Reds.

Takumi Minamino, who was deputizing for Salah and Mane at AFCON, missed an open goal from eight yards out in injury time.

Arsenal became the first team this season to keep Liverpool from scoring at Anfield in all competitions with the win.

Chelsea will face Arsenal in the final at Wembley if the two teams meet in the semi-finals.

Chelsea advanced to the championship game with a 3-0 aggregate victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the rematch on Wednesday.
