Taliban fighters have taken over Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, as the country’s President, Ashraf Ghani, has left the country for Tajikistan, a senior interior ministry official said.
Earlier, the Taliban had said in a statement that they have ordered all their forces not to enter Kabul and they want a “transition process”.
Afghan news media reported that President Ashraf Ghani had left the country on Sunday afternoon.
