The federal government has ordered the immediate closure of enrolment activities at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) headquarters in Abuja.

According to NIMC’s spokesman, Kayode Adegoke, the minister of communications and digital economy, Isa Pantami, gave the directive on Saturday, January 16.

Isa Pantami has previously raised concerns about Nigerians flouting COVID-19 guidelines at NIMC centres.

Adegoke also disclosed that the minister reactivated 20 other centers within the FCT to make the process of National Identity Numbers (NIN) enrolment much easier for applicants effective on Monday, January 18.

He advised residents in Abuja who wish to enroll for NIN to visit any of the 20 NIMC centers.
